When The Vet Called the Police

When Ben found out that his horse was pregnant and was about to give birth, he was ecstatic, maybe Felicia will soon going to deliver a good horse. As the time of delivery drew near, Felicia refused to give birth and this became a cause for concern for Ben.

The horse was on the threshold of giving birth. But it refused to give birth even if it was flaunting a large stomach. Ben needed help from a vet who advised an ultrasound. When the vet saw the ultrasound, she called up the police immediately.

What Did The Police Say

When the vet summoned the police, the police summoned him and asked him to come their way immediately. This horse was in dire need of help, and the vet could not resolve everything.

The horse required surgery and her bulging stomach required immediate attention. The horse's health looked so bad that she may not survive. It was certainly a great cause for worry for poor Ben who was very fond of Felicia. Ben was worried about whether his gentle horse would be able to survive the surgery. Well, only time would tell.

The Investigation

The police finally arrived on the scene and went on to investigate what was the matter with the giant horse. They started to sedate the now-lifeless giant horse.

After a thorough investigation, they called up Ben on the spot. to tell him what was the matter. The summon worried Ben all the more. Their urgency was all the scarier. Had he done something wrong or was Felicia in harm's way. He suddenly felt his hands going clammy and his heart started beating fast. He hoped against hope that all would be well with his beloved horse.

Surprise and Disbelief

Ben was summoned by the police and he started answering questions that were directed at him. He told the police that Ben had been with her for years. When he stopped answering the questions, he heard that the vet was saying that he can't believe what he was seeing.

This made Ben feel all the more fearful. What was wrong with Felicia. He started praying hard, he hoped everything was okay and Felicia would deliver a healthy baby and nothing would happen to Felicia either. He slowly walked toward the vet, hoping for the best.

Good News

Ben's horse has been pregnant for almost a year. Ben had been hoping that Felicia would add another bonny horse to this brood. Ben was particularly fond of Felicia and wanted her to deliver a baby horse just like her. Would it be possible?

Well, there were certain hurdles on the way that Ben had not anticipated previously. Would Ben's heart-felt wish finally come true? It was difficult to gauge since the entire process does require a fair bit of planning. Even then, things may not go exactly according to plan.

Searching For The Right Guy

Ben sat down to work to find someone who has the credentials to legalize the impregnation process. However, this process took way too long. Ether he would find the right person with the wrong horse or he would find someone minus the legal papers.

Midway through the research, Ben started feeling frustrated, why was the entire thing taking so long? Would Ben finally have to accept defeat? Or finally, find the right person to carry out the whole impregnation process. Ben knew this for sure, he would go ahead with the plan only if he found the right person, otherwise, he would not go ahead with it. Read on to find out more about this.

Finally, The Right Person

Ben finally could find out the person that he had been searching for all along.  It took him months to zero in on the right person.

The right man was available only on short notice, so within a few days, the man came to Ben’s abode to ensure that Felicia was impregnated in the right way. Ben was finally feeling relieved and looking forward to the future when Felicia would deliver an adorable filly. Ben vowed to take care of Felicia as much as possible. Hopefully, everything would turn out right for Ben and Felicia.

The Ultrasound Reveals The Big News

Although the process was long and arduous, Ben hoped that things would go exactly as planned. Just in a week's time, Ben was called by the vet to carry out the first ultrasound to reveal Felicia's true pregnancy status.

Ben was happy and excited, he could not wait to have another Felicia or a horse in his stable. He began making plans in his head for what he would do in the future. Well, maybe Ben was thinking too fast because the vet revealed an important piece of information to Ben.

Things Did Not Go As Planned

The vet checked the horse with care. Ben had massive faith in the vet. He was a compassionate person and had helped him in the past with Felicia. Ben knew Felicia was in the right hands.

It was good news for the horse owner as all seems to be going well for Felicia and her soon-to-be-born baby. However, it was only in the first stage, that a lot could happen in the next few months and indeed a lot did happen. Something happened that both Ben and the vet did not anticipate.

Walking Into the Stables is A Chore

Ben got the wind up of something not going wrong when he saw that Felicia wasn't sleeping well at least as much as she used to. What was bothering her? She was hale and hearty just a few weeks back.

Ben was actually having a tough time walking Felicia towards the stable. Previously Felicia enjoyed it when Ben used to walk her toward the stable. Ben racked his brains to find out what could go wrong. He knew he needed help in this department, someone professional, in this case, her vet.

The Reason Behind Felicia's Restlessness

As time moved on Felicia became more and more restless. Her entire pregnancy journey became more difficult than ever and got Ben really worried. However, the vet assured him that this phase would go away soon. Despite the vet's assurance, Ben could not feel relieved.

The delivery date drew near, but Felicia was feeling far from better, in fact, her symptoms were getting worse. Her restlessness reached new heights and Ben's forehead creased into worried frowns as he stared at Felicia with a combination of worry and love. We hope for Ben's sake that all goes well soon.

Refusing To Give Birth

To drive away all the stress and worry Ben busied himself with preparing for the delivery. It was one way of ensuring that everything would go on without a hitch.

But despite his best interests, Felicia had trouble giving birth, in fact, she simply refused to give birth. Ben knew that he now simply could not postpone calling the vet any further but things quickly went into bizarre mode as the vet started asking him more and more questions. Ben had a tough time fathoming exactly what was happening, Now, he did not know how he could resolve the situation.

The Vet Was Shocked

The vet then had a set of questions for Ben. A nervous Ben then started explaining that Felicia was feeling restless at first and Ben did not understand why Felicia was behaving differently.

The vet's face also furrowed into creases as she listened to Ben. Ben could see that the vet was worried too. The difference between them was, that Ben was clueless while the vet knew what was happenning to Felicia. Ben now was wondering whether he even wanted to know the truth! He knew in his heart that he didn't want anything to happen to Felicia.

Stretch Hard Felicia!

The vet was an experienced one, so she knew what was happenning and what needs to be done about it, she handed over crisp instructions to Ben and told him to stretch out Felicia.

Maybe, it was time for Felicia to give birth. The only way to get Felicia ready for the procedure was to stretch her out. But stretching the big horse was not going to be exactly easy. Ben had a tough time stretching her as she turned aggressive. This was an alien side of Felicia who is usually a docile horse.

One Way to Approach Felicia

Ben has never been scared of Felicia. Ben and Felicia share an unshakeable bond that had stood the test of time. Usually, Felicia always listened to her master, but this time it was different, was Felicia in any kind of pain?

Ben, was worried that with the state of health she was in, she may attack Ben. Though in his heart of hearts, Ben knew that perhaps Felicia would never do that, the situation was different. Perhaps there was a different way of doing things. Ben continued to think hard about how he could approach her.

Calm Approach

The vet then told Ben that he needed to do this as it was the only way to help Felicia. If Felicia had to survive this, they need to take some steps. They need to approach the horse in a calm and collected way. Ben was trying out different ideas in his head to approach her.

Next, Ben approached Felicia calmly. When he came closer, he came towards Felicia in a way that Felicia experienced as little pain as possible. Yes, this part was tricky as Felicia was pregnant and Ben had to be extra careful with her.

Stretching to the Full Extent

Ben was finally successful in stretching out Felicia, the vet then instructed Ben to feel her stomach. While he knew that there was a bulge that he may not have noticed previously?

Ben now became curious, what was the vet hinting at? Carefully, he looked at Felicia to look for any tell-tale bulges. And suddenly Ben saw an unexplained bulge. There was indeed a bulge and Ben was worried again. He could not understand why was there a bulge? Could the vet tell him why was there a bulge? His stomach in tight knots he turned to the vet to help him.

The Other Bulge

Ben had a feeling of trepidation wearing his facade of calm thin. Yes, he hadn't seen the bulge before. This type of bulge was something new to him and he has not encountered it before.

What could be the meaning of all this? Ben asked the vet whether Felicia was completely facing any new health issues other than her pregnancy. Yes, Ben was trying to find reassurance in the vet's words, unfortunately, there were no words of calm from the mouth of the vet either. Ben, was ready to have new health investigations for Felicia.

Ultrasound to Find More

The vet’s voice now carries the weight of extreme worry. In fact, the vet's voice sounded almost ominous over the phone, but the vet decided to immediately take action. She told Ben that he was coming over.

He told Ben calmly that he had to do an ultrasound. Ben could again feel the familiar terrain of worry. The vet then told him that he would be coming over in half an hour. The vet knew that she had to be there as soon as possible only then she would be able to start the treatment process, but things became more complicated.

Stuck in The Traffic

Going to Ben's location was difficult as he had to move through traffic snarls on the way. It was the rush hour and the vet got stuck in the traffic more than she had imagined.

Getting to Ben’s location was a challenge in itself. The vet did not notice that it was actually rush hour, so she got stuck in traffic for way longer than she had imagined. The vet knew she had to get to the horse as fast as possible to help Felicia deliver her baby foal. But would she be able to reach there in time?

Calling The Vet

As Ben became really worried,  he had an idea and called one of his friends to pick up the vet on a bike so that she could reach her faster. A bike would help them navigate through the traffic snarls better.

Even the vet thought it to be a great idea. She went back to her clinic and waited patiently so that one of Ben's friends came over to give her a ride to Ben's home. It was probably the best she could do at the moment. She couldn't stop herself from looking at her watch as the minutes ticked by.

Vet Coming To The Rescue

Ben’s friend reached the vet at lightning speed. He picked her up from the clinic and in no time they were able to reach Ben's ranch, rush hour or no rush hour.

The vet then began examining Felicia slowly, by that time Felicia was hardly moving. It was only when the vet came closer to her that she could see the horse stirring again. Ben was almost holding his breath as he watched the proceedings. Suddenly, he felt a little better when Felicia started moving, albeit just a little bit.

Sedating Felicia

The vet decided to sedate Felicia. She had to do this as otherwise, Felicia may attack her, as she won't be able to understand that the vet was helping her and not harming her.

Animals have a basic instinct to protect themselves and the only way to do it is an attack on what they consider their attacker. The vet knew that first, she had to ensure that before beginning the treatment process she and Ben were safe. However, their task was certainly cut out as Felicia refused to get sedated. 

Felicia's Aggressive Phase

Poor Felicia also did not understand what was happenning to her. To defend herself she started getting aggressive. Ben and his friend then started to inch away from her to ensure she felt safe.

So, what would be the next step for the vet? Ben and his friend watched in silence as the experienced vet continued to try and sedate Felicia. Would the vet finally be able to sedate her? Well, we would finally find out about that soon.  Meanwhile, the vet tried to calm a scared and sick horse.

Comes With Risks

The vet knew that she could use far heavier medicines but it also meant that she would put Felicia at risk which she did not want at all.  distance, but that was not without risks.

In such a situation Felicity and her baby might be able to live through the ordeal. The vet had to ask Ben's consent to find out more about her decision. Ben became more confused than ever. We don't envy Ben at this moment as it is certainly not an easy decision to make. Ben thought hard and finally came to a conclusion.
